The year 2020 proved uncertain for everyone in the global design and build sector, including the architecture recruitment in UAE. With the COVID pandemic, several trends in architecture recruiting are accelerating, such as an expansion beyond existing talent pools and the requirement for flexible packages and remote working options. With the growing momentum of the industry, architectural recruitment firms are becoming busier every day. Would you like to attract a new star to your architecture firm?

The job market is competitive, so here are five steps to getting and keeping the best candidate for your key role.

Architecture recruitment in UAE

1)  Move quickly

If a firm sends you what looks like a good candidate CV, don’t wait around. Get the person in for an interview as soon as possible. If they are good it is likely other opportunities are on their radar. So it’s important to act quickly and decisively. If the interview goes well, then let the candidate know the job is there’s as quickly as you can. Get them in post and working so they can benefit your business as fast as possible.

2)  Keep your recruitment partner informed

It’s courtesy, but if you have made a choice they won’t send a candidate’s CV elsewhere. Also, it send a message about what it is you are looking for, so the consultant can have a good idea of what sort of person is right for you the next time you approach them about a vacancy.

3) Be prepared

Study your candidate’s CV closely so you understand their work experience and practices. Don’t rush the interview, but keep it relevant. The candidate will appreciate the fact that you have taken time to look into what it is they offer. Be frank and open as to what it is you need, and they will most likely reciprocate.

4) Meet reasonable demands

Offer the salary the position dictates. Look at who is paying what. Losing a great candidate because you want to save a few dirhams is a real false economy. And if you can’t reach a salary request, look at other benefits you can offer. Help with school fees, for instance, or top-grade medical insurance.

5) Keep listening

If you have hired someone, it’s because you value them. So when they offer opinions, listen to what they have to say. That way they feel valued and an important member of your business. So they gain confidence and are, of course, far more likely to offer you a long-term commitment.
